SOS iš Vroclavo Lenkų teatro

LNDT ką tik gavo dramatizmu persunktą pagalbos šauksmą iš vieno geriausiųjų Lenkijos teatrų – Vroclavo Lenkų teatro (Teatr Polski). Pastaraisiais metais, vadovaujamas charizmatiško teatro fanatiko ir intelektualo Krzysztofo Mieszkowskio, šis teatras pagarsėjo radikaliais spektakliais ir nekonvencine laikysena. Naujoji dešiniųjų vyriausybė Kultūros ministerijos asmenyje ir Žemesniosios Silezijos vaivadija dėjo daug pastangų atsikratyti teatro vadovu, kuris irgi buvo išrinktas į Seimą su viena iš opozicinių partijų. Teatr Polski virto politinių, ekonominių (teatras išties turi skolų, nes nesibaidė brangių pastatymų) ir asmeninių žaidimų įkaitu.

Vakar pasibaigusiame naujo teatro vadovo konkurse K. Mieszkowskis negalėjo dalyvauti, nes neturi magistro laipsnio. Kas kad daugybę metų jis yra geriausiojo lenkų teatro almanacho „Kwartalnik Teatralny“ redaktorius! Surežisuotą konkursą laimėjo pilkas ir jokiais pasiekimais negalintis pasigirti žmogus. Tikras ponas Niekas! Vertinimo komisijos protokolą atsisakęs pasirašyti legendinis Krystianas Lupa, neįsivaizduojantis darbo be senojo direktoriaus, pranešė stabdąs F. Kafkos „Proceso“ repeticijas, o teatro kolektyvas pasirengęs neterminuotam streikui. Šiuo metu teatras derina tolesnę strategiją su teisininkais, pastatas apjuostas STOP juostomis.

Vienas žymiausių Lenkijos dramaturgų Piotras Gruszczynskis, kaip tik šiuo metu vedantis kūrybines dirbtuves jauniesiems dramaturgams LNDT organizuojamo Nacionalinės dramaturgijos festivalio „Versmė“ rėmuose, taip pat išsakė savo nuomonę.

„Sutinku su viskuo, kas sakoma laiške. Tiesa, kad jie žudo ilgas tradicijas turintį teatrą, kuris visada buvo vienas geriausių. Tai – kritinio teatro nepaisymas ir ženklas, kad Kultūros ministerijai ir vietinei valdžiai tokio teatro nereikia. Jiems reikia pigaus, tylaus ir juokingo teatro. Manau, jog K. Mieszkowskis buvo protingas: jis stengėsi statyti didelius spektaklius net ir su ribotu biudžetu. Pavyzdžiui, pakvietė Lupą, kas yra nuostabu, bet ir labai brangu. Tačiau jis taip pat sukūrė vietą jauniems pradedantiems režisieriams; kartu su Krystianu subūrė puikų aktorių ansamblį ir pavertė teatrą gyvu organizmu. Manau, toks direktorius turėtų būti išlaikytas bet kokia kaina, bet kai kalbame apie politiką, pasidaro aišku, kodėl jie jo nenori. Nepaisant to, kad viskas vyksta Vroclave, tai nėra susiję tik su Vroclavu. Juk Teatr Polski yra įžymiausias Lenkijos teatras, tad tai – didelis, visą šalį apimantis, skandalas.“ – sakė P. Gruszczynskis.

Savo geriausiais spektakliais siekiantis įtvirtinti kritinę mintį ir niekam nepataikaujantis LNDT reiškia solidarumą su Vroclavo Lenkų teatru, kuriame dirba mūsų scenoje sužibėję ir su naujais projektais sugrįšiantys Krystianas Lupa ir Lukaszas Twarkowskis.

SOS from Polski Theatre in Wroclaw

LNDT has just received a dramatic cry for help from one of the best theatres in Poland, Wroclaw’s Teatr Polski. During recent years, the theatre has thrived with its radical shows and unconventional stance thanks primarily to its leader, a charismatic theatre fanatic and intellectual Krzysztof Mieszkowski. The new right-wing government incarnated by the Ministry of Culture together with Lower Silesia Province have put tremendous efforts to get rid of Mieszkowski who has been elected to the Parliament with one of the opposition parties. Teatr Polski has now become a hostage of political, economic (true, it has debts arising from staging expensive performances) and personal games.  

Mieszkowski could not participate in the last official competition to run the theatre, which ended last Monday, because he does not hold a postgraduate degree. As if being a chief editor of the best Polish theatre almanac Kwartalnik Teatralny means nothing! A grey man without any significant achievements in the field of theatre – a real Mr. Nobody! – won the staged competition. The legendary director Krystian Lupa who was in the committee and refused to sign the final protocol, as he cannot imagine working without Mieszkowski, announced terminating the rehearsals of Kafka’s The Trial. The theatre is reviewing its next steps in consultations with lawyers; its staff ready for termless strike. The building is engirded with caution tapes. 

One of the most famous Polish dramaturgs, Piotr Gruszczinski, who at the moment is leading workshops for young Lithuanian drama writers in the frames of the LNDT national dramaturgy festival “Versme”, shared his thoughts about events taking place in Wroclaw.

“I agree with everything in the letter. It is true that they are killing the theatre with the long tradition, and this theatre was always one of the top. It is a question of ignorance and the sign that the Ministry of Culture and local governments do not care, because they do not want critical theatre that can cause problems. They want to have cheap, quite and funny theatre. I think that K. Mieszkowski was quite clever: even in the situation of the lack of money, he was doing big artistic productions on the main stage. For example, he invited Lupa, which is wonderful, but also very costly. However, he has also created a place for young and starting directors, built very good ensemble of actors together with Krystian, and managed to create a kind of theatre hot-spot. I think normally this kind of director should be kept at any price, but when it comes to politics, it is clear why they do not want him. Even though it is happening in Wroclaw, it is not only about Wroclaw, after all, Teatr Polski is the most famous theatre in Poland, so it is big national scandal.” – said P.Gruszczynski.

The artists who work in Teatr Polski such as Krystian Lupa and Łukasz Twarkowski have already shined in our stages and will come back here with new projects. With its best shows, LNDT always encourages critical thinking and never toads to anyone, and thus expresses solidarity with these artists and Teatr Polski Wroclaw.
